My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Runion was picked up as a stray and taken to a high kill shelter in South Carolina.  His body clearly shows that he was in an abusive situation prior to ending up in the shelter.  When Run was picked up his entire back, from his head to his butt was raw and infected from chemical burns.  He also had healed scars on his legs and face from previous burns and was very skinny.  He does have scarring on his lower back where he will never have fur but the majority of the scars have become fur covered.  Two thirds of his tail was also cut off.  A collar is not recommended for walks as we believe he has some scarring on his esophagus from licking at the chemical that was poured on him and the pressure from the collar irritates it and makes him cough.   Run has a mohawk down his neck as the fur grew sideways and covered the scars there.  He also becomes very afraid when there is any yelling going on.  He will run to a corner and shake.  He is a sweet dog who loves people, both adults and kids  and gets along well with other dogs, although he is fed by himself because he does not like the other dogs to eat his food.  He greets everyone he meets with a kiss on the hand and when meeting dogs he always licks their nose.  He is not a fan of cats but does live with 3 of them.  He will chase them but once they swat him he is afraid and just barks at them.  Runion loves sitting on someone's lap and sleeping in bed curled up right next to his person.
