Rescue FAQs

Southern California Shiba inu Rescue is a 501(c)(3) corporation. We are an all-animal rescue that specializes in the Shiba Inu breed. As an all-volunteer, foster home based rescue, we do not have a physical shelter at this time. Our mission is to rescue, provide sanctuary, and ultimately to re-home abandoned, stray and neglected dogs. Whenever possible we also assist dogs who, because of extenuating circumstances, are unable to remain in their homes with their owners We are located in Southern California however we have pulled and placed Shiba Inus across the country. We partner with local shelters and other rescues. Adoptable animals in our care will be kept as long as it takes to find a suitable home. All animals are housed in foster homes where they are provided with an enormous amount of love and any medical attention that may be required to insure that they are in good health before adoption. They are all spayed or neutered and brought up-to-date with all vaccines before being placed in their new homes. Our dogs are also housetrained and taught basic obedience. They are leash trained and in most cases crate trained. Southern California Shiba Inu dogs are evaluated for temperament and personality. This helps us to place them in homes that are well suited to their needs and to the needs of their future owners. If you are looking for a specific type of dog and do not see it on our website, please email us. We work closely with other rescue groups and animal shelters and may be able to assist you in finding your next furry friend.
