Shelter FAQs

Noah's Ark is a non-profit organization dedicated to help the animals of Carlsbad and surrounding Eddy County. We strive to educate the public about the value of spay/neuter surgery and the importance of supporting your local animal shelter.

Did you know that every hour in the United States more than 5,000 puppies and kittens are born, while only about 500 humans are born. In order to place every dog or cat born into a home, each person would have to be responsible for 10 animals. A family of four would need to care for 40 animals!

We are committed to reducing the number of unwanted pets through out Spay/Neuter Certificate Program and out Feral Cat/Trap/Neuter/Release Program. The logic is simple - the fewer unwanted puppies and kittens born, the fewer that will have to be euthanized in shelters simply because they do not have a home.

$50 dogs

$40 cats

Adoption fees include age-appropriate vaccinations, spay/neuter surgery, and microchip. Animals at the shelter and listed on the website include currently adoptable animals, as well as animals still on stray hold or with notified owners, therefore not every animal pictured is immediately available. All animals must be spayed/neutered before going to their new homes, so there is sometimes a short wait (2-4 days, most commonly) between completion of adoption paperwork and pickup of the animal.
