The mission of Nantucket Island Safe Harbor for Animals, NiSHA, is to provide shelter and care for animals in need and to promote animal welfare through humane education, outreach and advocacy.

At NiSHA, we appreciate that you are choosing adoption. We try to make it easy to take home a friend by including as much as possible in the adoption process. This ensures your new companion is healthy and ready for their new life with you.

Nantucket - NiSHA is the town’s contracted stray dog shelter. All lost dogs brought in by Nantucket’s Animal Control Officer or citizens are cared for and safe until their owners can be located. With our public Facebook page and Twitter account, strays go home more quickly than ever.

    1. Adoption donations help to cover the services the pet receives before going home with you!
  5. Take the Pet Home
    1. All of our adoptions begin a trials to make sure it's a great fit for both the pet and the family/person.
