Shelter FAQs

We strive to provide a safe, comfortable environment for the pets in our care and in the community, and promote responsible pet ownership through outreach efforts and community involvement. Our goal is to make El Paso a “no-kill” community by 2020 — but we need your help! Join our lifesaving mission by adopting, fostering, volunteering or donating.

Adoption steps

  1. Visit the Facility and Find a Pet
    1. With hundreds of pets at the shelter and in foster, we recommend checking our website before visiting in person.
  2. Meet the Pet
    1. We recommend bringing the whole family, including resident dogs, to meet the pet you're interested in adopting to ensure it's a good match.
  3. Sign Adoption Contract
    1. Our adoption team will review the adoption contract with you. Adoption fees are $30 for dogs and $5 for cats unless during a special promo.

Additional adoption info

All adoptions are on a first-come, first-served basis and must be made in person. As a high-intake shelter, most of the pets that come to us are strays, meaning we have limited background history on the pet, such as health, behavioral or living history. All adoptions include the animal's spay/neuter procedure, microchip, age-appropriate vaccinations and city license. All adoptions include a 7 day free trial with our training partner, GoodPup to help ease the transition!
