Rescue FAQs

The West Suburban Humane Society (WSHS) is a volunteer-based, no-kill animal rescue that was founded in 1972 in the western suburbs of Chicago. WSHS now finds homes for more than 500 dogs and cats each year! WSHS is 100% funded by individual, corporate, and private foundations donations, and has over 450 active volunteers! WSHS is caring for about 200 animals at any given time. We adopt to the following counties in IL: DuPage, Cook, Lake, McHenry, Will, Kane & Kendall.
