Shelter FAQs

Our mission is to provide homeless animals with a second chance at life and companionship in a no-kill shelter. Our organization goes beyond shelter walls and is committed to:

1) Positive people and animal
relationships and placements

2) Offering affordable spay/neuter
and vaccination clinics

3) Cooperative rescue efforts

4) Animal welfare education
Primarily the White Mountains region of NH; we do adopt to other states in New England as well

Adoption steps

  1. Submit Application
We require an application for every adoption. For prior adopters, we ask that they submit a new application if it has been over a year.
  2. Approve Application
We call all landlords/property management companies to confirm that they consent to the adoption prior to approving applications.
  3. Visit the Facility and Find a Pet
  4. Meet the Pet
  5. Sign Adoption Contract
  6. Pay Fee
Our adoption fee is $120 for cats/kittens under ten years of age and $80 for cats over ten years of age. No adoption fee for barn cats.
  7. Take the Pet Home

Additional adoption info

At this time, due to increased demand, we are not open for "normal" visiting hours and are doing adoptions and meet-and-greets by appointment only to those with approved applications on file.

Please note that per the state of NH, in order to adopt cats/kittens to people out-of-state, the cat/kitten must have a health certificate signed by a licensed veterinarian (after an exam) prior to adoption. This means that anyone living outside of NH will not be able to do a same-day adoption, as once they meet and choose a cat, we will have to make a vet appointment to have them seen for their certificate (we do not have a veterinarian on staff).
