Additional adoption info

First Phase (5-7 days):
1. Application review. We will ONLY contact qualified candidates for the next steps.
2. Schedule for a video conferencing to assess the home environment.
3. Schedule for interview.

Second Phase (5-7 days):
If you are selected to adopt our dog, we will
4. Notify your listed contacts for the future follow-ups if we are not able to reach you after multiple attempts.
5. Provide the adoption contract for your review.
6. Request a copy of your driver’s license or identity card. This is to ensure that we are able to locate you after an address change.
7. Collect the adoption fee. Adoption fee will be collected in FULL prior to picking up the dog. If you are not comfortable with sending us the adoption fee electronically, we are able to schedule an in-person meeting in Davis, CA.

Final Phase (1-3 weeks):
8. Sign the adoption contract electronically before you pick up the dog.
-If the dog is fostered locally, you may be able to pick up your new family member within a few days depends on foster family’s schedule.
-If the dog is from the international rescue program, the flight schedule varies. Normally, you will be able to pick up the dog within 3-5 weeks after the adoption is confirmed. It may take up to 1.5 months because of the live animal import regulations established by USDA.

Meet our founder: Nikki is a licensed veterinsrin and also an epidemiologist. Nikki received her master degree in preventive veterinary medicine and PhD in epidemiology from UC Davis.

Animal Rescue Squad International is a 501(c)(3) Nonprofit organization establishedin 2017. Our organization was founded by a group of volunteers, including veterinarians, that have made it their life goal to help support dogs in need. We are run 100% on donations, volunteers and depend on them to continue our mission.

Why should you adopt?

Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you'll have a friend for life.

What is the difference between adopting a dog, adopting a cat, adopting a kitten or adopting a puppy versus getting dogs for sale, cats for sale, puppies for sale or kittens for sale from a dog breeder or a cat breeder?

When someone is breeding puppies or breeding kittens, they are creating new dogs and cats who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog, cat, puppy or kitten and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale or buy a cat for sale from a puppy breeder or a kitten breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs and cats who must find homes.

So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder or buying a cat or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog, adopt a cat, adopt a puppy or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.
