HEART

We are HEART (Happily Ever After Rescue Team). We are based out of the Tropical island of Guam (US Territory in the Pacific).
Guam is overrun with large stray population that is estimated about 1:2 stray to human ratio. Our strays are referred to as Boonie dogs and cats affectionately. The Boonie dogs are mixed breeds with a history of K9 unit descendants from WWII, greyhounds, and small breeds such as corgis. Most Boonie dogs are average size or what we call “low-rider” with an average body and shorter legs. Boonies make some of the best pets ever. They are survivors with lots of energy and love to give. They are great dogs to train and do well with positive reinforcement. With a mixture of some great canine genes, they have some of the best temperaments around.
We help support the Guam Boonies and work to educate the local population on animal welfare and stray population reduction.
It is very hard to adopt out animals here on the island, so we occasionally work to raise money and help bring Boonies to those in the mainland looking for a tropical island pal.
