Rescue FAQs

We are Kind Spirits, a Texas animal rescue nonprofit organization. Our mission is to save the lives of at-risk full of life, young, and healthy pets from kill shelters in Texas with an emphasis on shy dogs or over looked ones. We partner with nonprofit transport companies and online adoption hosts to get our rescue pets out of the #1 euthanasia state into their furrever homes.
All of Texas, with an emphasis on Central Texas. We partner with non-profit transporters that transport to NH, NY, PA, VT, OH, and CT.

Adoption steps

  1. Submit Application
We ask all interested parties to fill out our adoption application on our website.
  2. Interview
For applications that pass our criteria the foster will reach out to them for a phone interview. We also contact references at this point.
  3. Meet the Pet
If local we will schedule a meet + greet. If out of state, we give the potential adopters the option of a virtual meet + greet.
  4. Sign Adoption Contract
Once all above steps have been passed and adoption has been approved we will send the adopters our adoption contract.
  5. Pay Fee
Adoption fee is required at the same time as adoption contract.
  6. Take the Pet Home
Final step is meeting adopters for adoption day! This is where they take their furrever family home (meet locally) or we schedule transport.

Additional adoption info

Please note, should we receive multiple applications on a pet we do our best to work with the potential adopters that do not get selected to help them find their new family member. We offer a pet matchmaking service (free) where we are their boots on the ground and can find the perfect fit based on their wants + needs in a pet. We work with shelters all over Texas to get pets off the euthanasia list and into foster homes and their forever homes.
