Areas Humane Society of Seneca County Serves

The Humane Society of Seneca County works with all of Seneca County. We are the only entity to take in cats, therefore we are typically filled to the top with cats. We usually have on any given day about forty cats in our building. If the dog is a stray it will proceed to the Dog Wardens office right down the road. Also, the Humane Society takes in surrendered animals as well. In this fallen economy we have definitely had an increase on surrendered animals in the past year or two. Unfortunate times cause unfortunate decisions. People are having to downsize and many places do not accept pets, which you guessed it, they come here.

Humane Society of Seneca County's Adoption Process

1. Submit Application

Apply at https://www.humanesocietysenecacounty.org/
Fill out the application and submit it to our email for faster approval.

We always love for the potential adopters to come and visit with an animal to make certain that it will match their personality. There is an adoption application form that must be filled out, once this is done it is usually a 24 hour process. Once the application is approved, the animal, if not already, must go to our vet here and get either spayed or neutered. After these procedures are finished then the animal may go home.
For adoption of a dog prices vary with the age of the dog: Puppies 4 months and under are $200, Puppies ages 5 months to 10 months are $150, Adult dogs are $75, and senior dogs are $25. We give them their age appropriate vaccinations, de-wormed, given flea a treatment, tested for heartworm, given heartworm preventative, and spayed/neutered before leaving our facility
For a cat adoption also varies with age of the cat: Kittens 6 months and under are $60, and Cats 7 months and older are $40. We give them their age appropriate vaccinations, de-wormed, flea treatment, tested for feline leukemia, given heartworm preventative, and spayed/neutered before leaving our facility

About Humane Society of Seneca County

We are the Humane Society of Seneca County! We are a non-profit organization with a small full-time staff. Our facility is fairly new, we built this building ten years ago and work hard to keep it nice. We try our hardest to find the best homes for all of these homeless animals of Seneca County. We have animals here for over a year who have found homes! We don't lose hope!

Come Meet Humane Society of Seneca County's Pets

We always have animals here at the shelter available for adoption. We have many fundraisers throughout the year and adoption events which sometimes we bring animals to. We have great donors who have sponsored a time slot on a radio station so that we can have "pet of the week." "Pet of the Week" is when we choose an animal to take to the radio and get the word out about that specific pet. We try to do a dog one week then a cat the next week.
