Shelter FAQs

We are a no-kill, non-profit pet placement and adoption center located in Ontario, California. We were established in 1954 as the Humane Society of Chaffey Community and it served as the local animal control for the surrounding areas. Roughly 40 years later, we adopted a no-kill policy as West End Shelter for Animals. Sociable homeless cats and dogs are surrendered by owners who can no longer keep them for various reasons and they remain with us indefinitely until we find them a new home. The shelter can provide temporary homes for up to 200+ cats and dogs. In addition to working with pet owners, we rescue a number of cats and dogs from county shelters where they await euthanasia due to pet overpopulation.
We serve all of Southern California!
