Rescue FAQs

My name is Sheryl White. In 2007 I was in a car accident that took me several months to recuperate from. I have always loved animals and did what I could to help. But, during my recuperation time, I became involved with my local Humane Society in Ohio. It wasn't long before I became frustrated with them fundraising, but not using the funds saving any animals! So, I started my own rescue. It was a few years before I was able to get the 501c3 non profit status, but in 2009 we made that happen. With the help of many friends I learned the in's and out's of rescue. The biggest thing I learned is; New England has a dog shortage! By transporting dogs to New England, so many, many more could be saved. I also realized pulling dogs from high kill shelters was not enough, just not making any long term change. So, "The Great Puppy Rescue" was developed. This is a program that gets to the "root cause" of the problem, spay of the mother dogs. Basically, if you surrender the litter of pups to the rescue, we will pay for the mother to be spayed. This gets the pups out of the county, into New England, and the mom spayed. A few years after the program started 3 area counties went from High Kill shelters to No Kill Shelters. The populations was so reduced, people were calling me looking for puppies because there was non to be found. What a great success! In 2015, my health became an issue. I had to move home to Western New York to get help from my family until I was better. I gave up rescue at this time, believing I was not needed in Western New York. I got better and went back to work full time. I finally had a good job and enough money to build my home. I found an Amish man to do the build. Well, his family and I became friends and it wasn't long that I realized there was a huge over population problem. Due to their beliefs ,They didn't get their momma dogs spayed so they had litter after litter. These were not puppy mills, just family dogs that had a litter of pups every 6 months or so. Well, of course, that didn't fly, so "The Great Puppy Rescue" moved to Western New York! This is why I have a lot of puppies up for adoption. do my own transport, so, I am there to help with the meeting and make sure you have enough time to spend with them before you make a final decision. Here's how it works; Everyone meets the transport at the scheduled time, they meet their dog, spend some time with it. Just as if you were meeting the dog at a shelter or foster home. If it is a good fit, great, if not, there are no fees at all, you just return the dog back to me and we continue to try and find that perfect fit for your family. Please don't let transport scare you off. I do transport myself, so I can be there to answer questions and be sure the dogs are safe and healthy. If it doesn't work out, I am there to take care of them. We also, have a 30 day full refund policy. We want to be sure there is a good fit for the dog and the family. It is hard to determine this with one meeting. The return policy allows you the time needed for transition with no financial risk.
