Root Rescue is a foster-based animal rescue organization committed to saving dogs and cats in need and finding them loving, forever homes. Our name, “Root,” represents growth—from the bottom up—just as we help animals grow from vulnerable beginnings into happy, healthy pets.
What sets us apart is our hands-on, personalized approach. Every animal in our care lives in a loving foster home, allowing them to receive individualized attention, socialization, and care while waiting for adoption. Our team includes certified TNR trappers and certified animal control professionals, ensuring every rescue is handled safely, humanely, and effectively.
We go beyond adoption by educating the community about responsible pet ownership, promoting spaying and neutering, and supporting families in creating lasting bonds with their pets. Even after adoption, we remain a resource for our adopters, ensuring both pets and families thrive together.

Adoption steps
- Submit ApplicationComplete the 3-section application carefully. Email us for a PDF, or apply online at rootrescue.org under the Adoption tab.
- Home CheckOnce approved, we’ll schedule a virtual home check, meet your household, answer questions, and introduce you to the rescue pet.
- Meet the PetAfter the virtual meeting, we’ll schedule an in-person meet and greet to ensure your family and the dog are happy and a good match.
- Take the Pet HomeIf everything is a good match, you’ll sign the adoption contract, submit the adoption fee, receive the pet’s records and ownership transfer,
Additional adoption info
To adopt a dog or cat, the first step is submitting an application. Once your application is reviewed and approved, we will schedule a virtual meeting to discuss the pet in more detail, answer your questions, and complete a virtual home check to ensure it’s a good fit for your household.
If the virtual meeting goes well, we will arrange an in-person meet and greet so you and the pet can interact and make sure everyone feels comfortable and confident with the match.
If it’s a great fit for both your family and the pet, you will complete the adoption contract, submit the adoption fee, receive the pet’s records and transfer of ownership, and then take your new family member home.
Even after adoption, our support doesn’t end there. We will always be here for you and your new ROOT pet, offering guidance and assistance whenever you need it.
