Rescue FAQs

Chicagoland Bully Breed Rescue is a not-for-profit, all-volunteer animal rescue organization that specializes in the bull breeds especially pit bulls. We rescue abused, unwanted and stray dogs and find them responsible, safe homes where they can thrive both physically and mentally.

We believe that the public needs to be educated about the breeds characteristics to understand the breeds that we love. Through humane education programs and activities, we hope to make the public better understand the bull breeds that so often discriminated against.

These activities include:

  • Fun shows that include activities that can be done with your dog (i.e. weight pull, conformation, obedience, protection, and agility)
  • Educational seminars for families especially those at risk of illegal activities which frequently include dog fighting
  • Community education programs to enlighten the residents of what is happening in their community
Illinois, Wisconsin & Indiana

Additional adoption info

The adoption donation is:

  • $200 for dogs 1 year and older
  • $250 for puppies under the age of 1 year.

Our dogs are all spayed/neutered, micro chipped, current on all vaccinations, heartworm tested and dewormed. They all have at the minimum basic obedience skills and have been temperament tested to ensure proper placement.

All adoptions start with an application, reference check and home visit. There are NO EXCEPTIONS to this.

In addition, once a dog is adopted, Chicagoland Bully Breed Rescue will complete follow-up phone calls and visits to ensure that the animal is safe and to answer any questions that may arise. We are always available to answer any questions and to pass on our knowledge of the breeds. We can also make recommendations for nutrition, veterinarians, boarding facilities and training classes.

Please remember that just because you find a specific dog attractive does not mean that it will fit into your lifestyle. Please take our recommendations with sincerity since we know the dogs and their personalities. We want to place a dog in a FOREVER home and strive to make it right the first time. We have many contacts and if we don't have a dog that fits your lifestyle, we will be able to point you in the right direction.

    The adoption process:

    • Submit your application at http://chicagolandbullybreedrescue.org/application0.aspx
    • A volunteer looks over your application and starts the screening process
    • A volunteer will contact to you to discuss your application, interview you and your family and set-up a time for a home visit.
    • Once approved, we set up a time for you to meet the dog you requested and any others that may be suitable for your situation.
    • At the adoption, the adoption fee must be made in full (checks payable to CBBR) and the contract must be signed. If you prefer to pay with a credit card or directly to our veterinarian office, we will make arrangements.

Again, thank you for looking at the beautiful bullies that we have in rescue and we will be in touch with you soon!
