Shelter FAQs

We are a small no-kill adoption shelter. We only take in dogs and puppies and are selective in what we take in since we are an ADOPTION NO-KILL shelter. We can house about 20 dogs at our shelter. We operate out of an old small frame house with large dog runs and kennels in the back. Our dogs are usually kept in very large yard runs and only put in the newly renovated heated and air/conditioned kennels when the weather turns bad. All our dogs are heartworm tested and if found positive are treated! All of our dogs are on heartworm prevention. All of our dogs are spayed/neutered before being adopted. If they are too young, we give the adopter a voucher to have it done when they become of age, and we follow up that this has been done. Our adoption fee is $150. We are totally a non-profit organization 501(c)(3)), existing only on adoption fees, fundraisers, and donations. We are an all volunteer organization now, and have some of the most awesome volunteers ever!!!
Hood County - We mostly take in animals from Hood County, but if we have room will take in from other surrounding counties, Johnson, Summerville, Tarrant.

Additional adoption info

Our adoption fee is $150. We advise that you call the Shelter to make sure of the dog’s availability and if available set up an appointment to meet. There is an interview process and also an application and adoption agreement to fill out. Neither of these forms are on line. You have to be 21 or older to adopt. If you live in an apartment, we need proof that the landlord allows pets. We try and screen adopters as best we can. We want our animals to go to loving homes and hopefully not be brought back.
