AOHT's Rainbow Bridge, Inc.'s adoption process

Additional adoption info

We do two interviews, one on the phone and one in person with the pet being there. There is an adoption contract and if it's a puppy adoption, there a strict rule that the pet must be spay/neuter at 6 months of age and a fax copy must be sent to AOHT's Rainbow Bridge from the vet office. Our adoption fee is $95.00 and the adopter get a copy of their medical record. We do have some requirements that you have a fenced in yard if the pet are to be outside, pets cannot be tied or chain to a tree and shelter must be provided along with clean water at all time if outside. If for whatever reason you can no longer keep the dog, it must be return back to AOHT's Rainbow Bridge.

Our companions are spay/neuter, current on all vaccinations, rabies, heartworm tested and on heartworm preventative. Every three weeks we administered Frontline for ticks and fleas. Some of our furfriends go to the groomer and some have had their dental work done if needed.

About AOHT's Rainbow Bridge, Inc.

We are a rescue organization, a 501(c)3, non-profit, tax deductible, cater to the welfare of abandoned, abused, and neglected animals here in Bonham, (Fannin County), Northeast of Dallas, around Sherman and Paris area. AOHT's (All Our Hearts Together) Rainbow Bridge started beacause there were no sanctuary whats so ever in Fannin County for the four legged companions. They have suffered for so long here and it was time to give them "HOPE". We runs strictly by fostering program which enable the furfriends to be in a relaxing and a hands on environment. The animals seem to heal much quicker and are exposed to things that they would normally be exposed to if adopted out, like children, other dogs/cats, doorbells, and etc. Each and every one of the dog picture has a story to go with that face, and I am only a grain of salt that tells their story. We are a no-kill organization and the rewarding part is to see them drive off with their new family.

When there is an adoption, we try to implement education to the public. We also give the Adopters an opportunity to return the dog back to AOHT's Rainbow Bridge if it don't work out so that they don't end up on the street or pound again. Adoption fee are not refundable after 10 days of the adoption.

Adopt a Pet is the easiest way for you to search for a new pet in Bonham, TX.

Support adoption and rescue. Why go to a dog breeder, cat breeder or pet store to buy a dog or buy a cat when you can adopt?

Why should you adopt?

Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you'll have a friend for life.

What is the difference between adopting a dog, adopting a cat, adopting a kitten or adopting a puppy versus getting dogs for sale, cats for sale, puppies for sale or kittens for sale from a dog breeder or a cat breeder?

When someone is breeding puppies or breeding kittens, they are creating new dogs and cats who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog, cat, puppy or kitten and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale or buy a cat for sale from a puppy breeder or a kitten breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs and cats who must find homes.

So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder or buying a cat or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog, adopt a cat, adopt a puppy or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.
