Florida Keeshond Rescue's adoption process

Additional adoption info

Florida Keeshond Rescue requires the completion of an application form and completion of this form helps us to understand your expecations in a dog and this gives us a better idea of what dog might be just right to be your "forever" pet. After the application has been processed you will be contacted by one of our volunteers who will arrange a mutually convenient time to come to your home to meet you and to ensure that your home is a safe and loving environment for the dog you wish to adopt. When the right dog has been found, you will be required to a signed Contract designed to protect the dog's best interests as well as yours. Florida Keeshond Rescue does not charge a "fee;" rather, we askto be reimbursed for our out-of-pocket medical expenses in connection with the care of the dog you adopt and a donation in an amount usually determined by the adopter according to their means. We remain availabe for each and every Keeshond we place for the life of the dog.

About Florida Keeshond Rescue

Florida Keeshond Rescue is a nonprofit 501c3 organization made up of wonderful and caring volunteers who are dedicated to the purposes of rescue, rehabilitation and placement of previously abandoned, neglected, abused or otherwise unwanted Keeshonden(Keeshonden is the plural form of Keeshond) in permanent homes with responsible caregivers. We present and promote educational programs designed to increase public awareness, enrich the human-animal bond and ensure the welfare of the breed. We believe that all keeshonden deserve to live in peace without abuse of any kind. Our guiding tenet is to do what is best for each keeshond in our program. All dogs are spayed/neutered, house and crate trained, up-to-date on vaccinations and on heartworm and flea/tick prevention prior to placement. We require an application, home visit and signed contract prior to placing a dog with a family. We strive to make the best match to ensure the adopter honors a lifetime commitment to the adopted dog. Even if you’re not ready to adopt, you can still help – please visit our website to learn more about volunteering or feel free to call or email us with any questions you may have about the breed or our programs. We welcome your participation and encourage your tax deductible donations. Florida Keeshond Rescue depends on caring folks just like you. It is your donations that help us help the animals so please consider donating on a regular basis – you may send a check or take advantage of PayPal – details at www.FloridaKeehsondRescue.com. All donations are Tax deductible to the full extent of the Law. The Keeshonden in our foster care program send you wags of thanks.

Florida Keeshond Rescue's adopted pets

Adopt a Pet is the easiest way for you to search for a new pet in Jacksonville, FL.

Support adoption and rescue. Why go to a dog breeder, cat breeder or pet store to buy a dog or buy a cat when you can adopt?

Why should you adopt?

Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you'll have a friend for life.

What is the difference between adopting a dog, adopting a cat, adopting a kitten or adopting a puppy versus getting dogs for sale, cats for sale, puppies for sale or kittens for sale from a dog breeder or a cat breeder?

When someone is breeding puppies or breeding kittens, they are creating new dogs and cats who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog, cat, puppy or kitten and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale or buy a cat for sale from a puppy breeder or a kitten breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs and cats who must find homes.

So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder or buying a cat or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog, adopt a cat, adopt a puppy or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.
