St. Bernard Parish Animal Control's Adoption Process

Pet adoptions with full health packages are available; many can be viewed from our Adoptions page on our website. The basic adoption fee is $20.00 which covers 8 in 1 booster(s), bordetella, rabies vaccination, worming, microchip and the participating veterinarian's visits to complete these services; dogs are screened for heartworm and cats are feline leukemia tested. If the pet has not already been spayed or neutered (or had the fee donated), the spay or neuter operation adds $60.00 - $70.00 to the adoption fee, bringing the total adoption fee for male dogs or cats $80.00 - female dogs or cats $90.00.

About St. Bernard Parish Animal Control

We may not be the biggest shelter in the metropolitan area, but we are trying hard to be one of the best! The Animal Control division of parish government assumes a unique position in our community. We combine the activities of a humane organization which protects animals, a law enforcement agency which protects people and their interests, and a public health agency which protects people from the dangers and diseases of animals. Thanks to our private support group - Friends of the Animal Shelter - our public shelter provides many services rarely offered by government-run shelters. Visit our website for more information.
