Rescue FAQs

We are an all-breed rescue/no-kill shelter. We provide the best care possible to our dogs including medical care, training and TLC. We put much effort in placing our dogs into homes where they will best be matched so that the dogs and the families we place them in will both be content. All our dogs are spayed and neutered and up to date on vaccines before being placed into their new homes. We are a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization and the expenses of operating our shelter are very high. One of our dogs we have rescued must undergo surgery before we can adopt her out. In addition we have the costs of spaying and neutering, food and upkeep of our kennels. Donations are greatly appreciated. We are also in need of volunteers who are interested in showing and marketing our dogs at adoptathons held in pet stores. The sooner we can place our dogs into their forever homes, the more dogs we can help save.
When kennel space allows, we take dogs from local pounds, other rescue groups, and occasionally some from other states.

Additional adoption info

Our adoption process is quite simple. First you choose a pet you are interested and contact us at the shelter. Then there is a meeting of the dog and the family hoping to adopt during which a simple interview will be conducted. If we feel that it is a good match for both the dog and the family, an adoption application will be filled out (this will be online soon). All references on the application will be checked out, including their vet which will tell us how they care(d) for their dog. After that a home check will be done. If all checks out favorably, then a legal adoption contract must be signed and when that is done, the dog is adopted. If, during the interview, we do not feel it will be a good match, we may suggest another dog or if we do not have one that we feel will fit the bill, an explaination will be given as to why the particular dog would not, in our estimation, be a good match for them.
We do our best to place our dogs in the best home possible for him/her and the family .
