Rescue FAQs

Mewtopia Cat Rescue is a Tennessee non-profit, 501(c)(3) tax exempt community service organization staffed entirely by volunteers. Mewtopia is dedicated to rescuing homeless, abused, abandoned or owner relinquished cats. Mewtopia also works to reduce the population of unwanted cats by facilitating and funding trap/alter/release of
stray/feral cats and by educating the public on responsible animal ownership. Mewtopia is always looking for new dedicated volunteers to help in a variety of ways.
If you would be interested, please contact us at 901-503-9328. You can also help the kitties by making donations of cash, food, litter, cleaning supplies, toys, beds, etc. We and the kitties at Mewtopia greatly appreciate any and all donations.
Mewtopia is located in Memphis, TN, and adopts primarily to Tennessee, Arkansas, and Mississippi residents.

Additional adoption info

Adoption is a relatively painless process here at Mewtopia Cat Rescue. We make every effort possible to correctly match pet with owner so as not to subject the animal to further rejection or abandonment. Adoption fees start at $100. Prospective adopters are asked to complete an Adoption Application and when adopting, must sign an Adoption Agreement, which requires that the pet
be returned to Mewtopia Cat Rescue if there are any problems (as opposed to being passed to another owner or placed in another shelter.) All applicants must interview with a Mewtopia adoption counselor.

What your adoption fee pays for: testing for FIV/Felv, spay/neuter, FVRCP/C first round vaccination, worming, flea treatment, ear cleaning and ear mite treatment, if necessary, and nail trim. Your adoption fee also helps cover hidden costs such as food, litter, cleaning supplies, rent and medical treament for those kitties rescued that are injured or ill. So remember your one-time donation at the time of adoption is a gift that keeps on giving every time a kitty is rescued or spayed or neutered. Thanks!!
