Shelter FAQs

We are the only Animal Shelter aound in a 4 county area in a small rural town. Our Shelter is operated by the Humane Society of Lincoln County. We are dedicated to providing proper and humane treatment of all animals that come thru our doors. The Society was formed in 1985 by people distressed over the conditions at the local animal pound and concerned about the needs of orphaned, neglected and abused animals in the city and county. At that time, the Society took over the operation of an Animal Shelter and the investigation of all animal cruelty cases. This is work which we continue to do. Your participation is vital to our mission. Please join our fast growing list of "Friends of the Shelter". Annual dues are $35.00 and that (and our fund raisers) help offset the tremendous cost of running the shelter. The greater the enrollment, the louder our voice in defense of all animals. We are constantly looking for volunteers to help with the animals in our Shelter, or if that isn't for you, we are constantly doing fundraisers, and can always use help with those. If you are willing to help in any way, transporting animals, picking them up at the vets, washing dogs, running errands...we can always find a perfect spot to fit your talents.
We are located a little over an hour south of Nashville, close to the Alabama state line, in Lincoln County. We accept inquiries from anywhere in the continental US.

Additional adoption info

Adoption fees for adult cats is $100 and $115 for kittens. For adult dogs adoption fee is $100 and puppies are $250. (Fees may vary) This fee contributes to the cost of spaying/neutering, age appropriate vaccinations and a rabies shot. We do strive to have all animals spayed or neutered before adoption. However, we do have a voucher system in place for those animals that are adopted before being spayed or neutered.
