Rescue FAQs

We are an IRS certified, 501(c)(3) non-profit charity (so all donations are tax-deductible) and all of our foster homes are licensed by the state of Missouri. Because we are an all-volunteer charity, all donations go directly to helping animals in one way or another. Our purpose is to promote interest and participation in the rescue, foster, and adoption of animals from area pounds and from owners who can no longer take care of their animals due to age/illness/death. We strive to match animals in need with committed adoptive homes. In addition, we are strong advocates of spaying or neutering your pets. When funds permit, we sometimes provide help for those who can't afford to have their pets spayed or neutered. Our first priority is to rescue dogs and cats from the pounds, particularly those that are to be euthanized soon. As space allows, we also accept strays that are turned in by people who rescued them from the streets.
Mutts -n- Stuff, founded in August of 2000, is an all-volunteer organization of foster homes located in the St. Louis/St. Charles area of Missouri. We work with various pounds/shelters in and near the St. Louis area. We mainly foster puppies, dogs, kittens, and cats; however, we have had a pig, a chicken, and a rabbit also.

Additional adoption info

Our adoption process begins with a pre-adoption application and then an adoption agreement will be signed upon placement. General adoption fees can vary less or more depending on individual animals and situations. Dogs are generally $200 under 5 yrs and $175 over 5 yrs (there are exceptions) and cats can range from $45 to $95.
