Rescue FAQs

Founded on the belief that cats and indeed all animals are inherently important and precious. They are essential to the world and the rhythm of life. It should be our business not only to marvel at their uniqueness and beauty, but to protect them, even if from ourselves. We are totally volunteer staffed, and your donations are essential to continue our work. Every Cat Counts seeks to educate the public about the necessity of spaying and neutering your pets since we all must help to eliminate the crisis of pet overpopulation that exists today. We assist with a low-cost spay/neuter clinic locally and will help to find you a referral if you are not in our area. Every Cat Counts will assist you with information about Trap-Neuter-Release (TNR) techniques for those wanting to humanely control colonies of feral cats in their communities. Every Cat Counts will support those who open their hearts and homes to any special needs animal. These animals will give you a lifetime of love Although Every Cat Counts has many animals in our care, we are not a shelter and cannot accept the intake of any animals at this time. Our system is over capacity and we need to place animals in either permanent or foster homes.

Additional adoption info

The fee to adopt a cat or kitten is $70. This includes neutering/spaying, feline leukemia and FIV tests, rabies and distemper vaccinations, deworming and flea treatment. If your adoptee is unable to be neutered/spayed prior to adoption, New York State law requires an additional $40 refundable retainer fee. The retainer will be refunded to you upon presentation of a valid neuter/spay certificate from a veterinarian's office. All cats must leave in a carrier.

Since our pets are in foster homes, we will arrange an appointment for you to meet. We will do our best to find the best match for you and your family. You will be asked to sign our adoption contract to complete your adoption.

Please contact us, so we can go through these steps together.
