Shelter FAQs

The Humane Society of McCormick County is a private, non-profit, no-kill organization formed in September 2000. We are staffed entirely by volunteers and we operate the only shelter in the county. Our rural county is a very poor county in South Carolina. McCormick County does not allocate any money for a county or city shelter and we do not have any veterinarians in our county. We are all our county has for any help with animals. We approach this problem through our #DoTheMath low cost spay/neuter program. We also provide TNR (trap, neuter or spay, and return) for outside, unowned cats for free throughout the county.
McCormick County consisting of Clarks Hill, McCormick, Modoc, Mount Carmel, Parksville, Plum Branch, and Willington

Additional adoption info

The animals in our care urgently need a permanent home where someone can provide individual loving care and attention. Please consider adopting your family pet from the Humane Society of McCormick County. We require that you sign an adoption agreement wherein you commit to take proper care of the pet. The adoption fee is $125 for dogs and $70 for cats. Every animal has been given all appropriate vaccinations. Every animal that is old enough has been spayed/neutered.
