Rescue FAQs
The mission of the Anderson Humane Society is to make possible a better world for all animals by providing shelter, educating the community about humane care and treatment, advocating animal welfare, and promoting the human-animal bond. The Humane Society is an all-volunteer organization. It has no paid employees or salaried officers. The Society receives no funding from local, state or federal governments. Operating expenses are supported by tax-deductible, voluntary contributions from the public.

Adoption fee for dogs is only $95 and adoption fee for cats is only $75, and that INCLUDES the spay/neuter and vaccinations! That's like paying for the veterinary fees and getting the pet for FREE!
The Adoption Center is next door to Anderson County Animal Control, which accepts abandoned and stray animals. After a 7 day holding period, the animals at Animal Control are eligible for transfer to the Adoption Center as space permits. Animals awaiting transfer are available for adoption though they will not be ready for their new homes until they are transferred and have seen the veterinarian.
Dog housing includes twelve indoor kennels where they spend some time during the day and are kept at night plus outdoor yards where they are allowed to run and play during the day. Cats and kittens are kept inside. They are mostly housed in cages and enclosures, though friendly and vetted adults are allowed free range of our office and lobby areas and will be the first to greet you.
