Rescue FAQs

Operation C.A.R.E. (Carolina Animal Rescue Effort) is a Rock Hill, SC non-profit, no kill, 501c3 all volunteer animal welfare organization saving animals in the Carolinas since 1990. Our rescue focuses primarily on the rescue of animals from area high kill shelters. Occasionally, we do attempt to help good Samaritans in the community who have found homeless or abandoned animals who are destined for shelters. Donations make it possible for us to continue our efforts. We are solely supported by donations and receive no other funding. We would cease to exist without kind donors and are 100% volunteer run. Animals up for adoption through Operation C.A.R.E. have been fully vaccinated and spayed or neutered. Dogs have been tested for heartworms and cats have been tested for FeLV and FIV. These animals are cared for in foster homes where their personality and behavior can be assessed for the most appropriate permanent home. Mission Our mission is to minimize the need for euthanasia of healthy, adoptable pets in local Carolina shelters by providing a low-cost spay/neuter option to people in the community and by providing temporary care for homeless animals until we find placement in quality permanent homes. "Nobody made a greater mistake than he who did nothing because he could only do a little." Edmund Burke
All of North and South Carolina.

Additional adoption info

Fees vary per pet. All dogs are vetted, UTD on vaccines, spay/neutered and microchipped prior to adoption. Cats are combo tested as well.
