Rescue Ranch is a small no-kill shelter in Siskiyou County in northern Ca. We have adopted dogs to several states and Canada.

You will first need to stop by our rescue and meet our dogs! If interested in one of our dogs you will need to fill out an application. We also do a home visit if in the area, to make sure you have a secure and a dog-friendly environment. If out of the Siskiyou county area we can easily make other arrangements. Our adoption donation is $195.00. We have a reduced rate for seniors, the disabled, and veterans. Our "Senior for Senior" program offers a further discount and can help with the cost of dog ownership. The adoption fee for puppies who grew up at the Ranch (or in foster here) includes spay/neutering when old enough and is $295.00. All of our dogs are up to date on shots, heart worm tested and any medical issue are treated. Every dog that is going to a new home must be spayed or neutered before they leave Rescue Ranch.

We also make 3-4 trips a year to county shelters in central California to save smaller dogs that can overwhelm shelter resources in those counties. We started about 18 years ago with 40 acres far outside Yreka and were able to help many dogs in the county due to the efforts of the founders and many volunteers. In August of 2009 our new facility opened. We are now about 2 miles outside of town on 10 acres. We have been steadily growing through the efforts of the committed staff, volunteers, and volunteer board members. In 2012 we had 80 adoptions, 2013 we had 105 adoptions and in 2014 we had 167 adoptions. This year in 2020, we are projecting to place over 500 dogs into happy homes! We operate solely on the generous donations from the public and our wonderful volunteers. We have added boarding to our facility and all proceeds from the boarding fees are used to help with our expenses so we can help more dogs find their forever homes.

When someone is breeding puppies or breeding kittens, they are creating new dogs and cats who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog, cat, puppy or kitten and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale or buy a cat for sale from a puppy breeder or a kitten breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs and cats who must find homes.
So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder or buying a cat or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog, adopt a cat, adopt a puppy or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.
