Rescue FAQs
We are a 100% volunteer run organization and rely solely on public donations to support our cause
We rescue from the entire DFW area, additionally we have rescued from Oklahoma, Louisiana and Alabama.
We rescue every guinea pig that we are made aware of from city shelters regardless of condition, age or gender.

Adoption steps
- Submit Application
- The first step in adoption from Texas Rustlers is to fill out an application online: https://www.theguineapigrescue.com/adoption-application
- Approve Application
- Our volunteer staff will process your application as soon as they are able and get in touch with you via email about your application.
- Visit the Facility and Find a Pet
- Once you're approved, we'll schedule an appointment on a Saturday between 9AM-5PM. You can meet and select your furry friend then!
- Sign Adoption Contract
- A contract will be signed during your adoption appointment.
- Pay Fee
- Our store cashier will process your adoption fee and help you select all supplies you may need. We accept cash, check or credit/debit card.
- Take the Pet Home
- Bring a pet carrier or at least a towel lined laundry basket with you to transport your new friend home!
Additional adoption info
Guinea Pigs: Piggies are adopted in pairs, unless you are needing a single piggy for a piggy you already have.
Bunnies: Adopted as pairs or singles.
Both: Currently bonded pairs will NOT be split up.
We do require an approved application be on file prior to scheduling a visit
