Rescue FAQs

A.R.F.-ANIMAL RESCUE FOUNDATION is a non-profit humane society established 1985. We are volunteers dedicated to finding loving homes to the homeless, abandoned, and abused animals of our community. Animals waiting for adoption are housed in foster homes. We are licensed by the state of Illinois, we receive no government funding. Private and corporate donations, as well as adoption fees, keep ARF prepared to help animals in need. As of July 1999, ARF is now a 501c3 non-profit organization in the United States.
We conduct adoption events throughout DuPage County, IL (the western suburbs of Chicago). You can see a list of our upcoming adoption events here: https://www.arf-il.org/events/

Adoption steps

  1. Submit Application
    1. Our application will ask for information about your household and vet, and previous pet experience. https://www.arf-il.org/adopt/application
  2. Approve Application
    1. Our application checkers will review the information you submitted. This step takes approximately 5 business days.
  3. Meet the Pet
    1. You will be invited to meet with the pet, usually at one of our Saturday adoption events: https://www.arf-il.org/events/
  4. Sign Adoption Contract
    1. We’ll walk you through the adoption paperwork and collect the adoption fee. Then your new best friend is yours!

Additional adoption info

If you are interested in adopting one of our pet you should complete an online application at www.arf-il.org. This does not commit you to adopting, but does allow the process to begin. You're welcome to send an inquiry, but fortunately our animals move quickly so the animal may be adopted by the time you inquire.

You will be screened to ensure that:

You understand the life long responsibility of adopting and caring for a pet.

All household members consent to the decision to adopt.

Adopting a pet will not result in a violation of your lease. If you live in an apartment, we do ask that you provide us with a copy of the lease or obtain a letter of approval from your landlord.

You are 18 years or older to adopt a pet from us.

The temperament of the animal you are interested in is conducive to your lifestyle and home environment.

Agree to our adoption fees*:
Dogs: $200
Kittens: 6 months and younger $150
Cats: Older than 6 months $110
Mama cats: $95

*Unless otherwise noted in pet listing or adoption contract.
