Animal Rescue League of Berks County (Berks ARL) is a progressive animal shelter that cares for approximately 5000 animals a year. In addition to our adoption program, Berks ARL has strong foster care and volunteer programs to help meet the needs of the pets in our care.
The Animal Rescue League is the biggest shelter in size and heart in Berks County, PA. We are easily accessible from surrounding areas, less than an hour from Philadelphia.

Adoption steps

  1. Visit the Facility and Find a Pet
    1. Adopters can view all available pets at www.berksarl.org/pets. The website shows all the pets that are available at any given moment.
  2. Interview
    1. Our counselors will give you all the information we have about the pet you want to meet or will match you with one that fits your lifestyle.
  3. Meet the Pet
    1. Dog adopters are encouraged to bring any dog they have already home and children to meet the new pet.
  4. Sign Adoption Contract
  5. Pay Fee
  6. Take the Pet Home
