Brigadoon Kennels Rescue

Brigadoon Rescue is an offshoot of my kennels and I have always been dedicated to helping all dogs in need. These dogs can be ones that were dropped off here when an owner could no longer adequately care for them; the result of unpaid training/kennel bills and were abandoned here instead of an owner trying to work out a viable option; some dogs belonged to avid hunters who died and their widows brought them to me for care and yet others just showed up here. I have also taken in dogs from some people who recently fell on hard times.

Additional adoption info

Every adopter must complete an adoption application. This helps us to learn more about the adopter and to help match dogs to people.

Fencing is a requirement for rescue dogs. Most are hunting dogs and have had some training, yet they need exercise and a fenced yard is most practical. Invisible fence is often a cost effective alternative to "hard" fence. If you are planning on keeping the dog indoors we recommend you purchase a crate for the dog. Ask us about the benefits of crate training when you call.

The adoption fee simply replaces the funds that we have already spent on the dog you choose to adopt. Dogs are fully vaccinated prior to adoption.

NOTE: If you'd like our vet to check a dog out prior to adoption I can make arrangements for a vet check for a nominal fee (non-refundable). Please call and we can discuss this option.

We require all dogs to be spayed/neutered within the first month of new ownership. You can simply mail us a copy of the spay/neuter certificate from your vet as proof. The environment here is controlled and no breeding - accidental or otherwise - takes place. We don't want to contribute to the unwanted, neglected or abandoned pet population that is currently out there.

We keep the dogs on monthly heartworm preventative and flea/tick preventative, while in our care and they are UTD on vaccinations. We also pay for their food and necessary kennel supplies while they are with us.

If we were to realize any profits those monies will be donated to Victory Junction, a special camp for special kids with health care needs.

Dogs are evaluated to determine their temperament and general health. We try our best to give as much information as possible about every animal up for adoption, but please remember that many times our ability to obtain information is limited. We try very hard to find homes for these dogs. We do not offer for adoption, any vicious or aggressive animals.

Although we make diligent efforts to ensure the optimum health of every animal made available for adoption, on occasion an adopted pet may become sick. If this occurs within the first week after adoption, please let us know. We will allow you the opportunity to select another dog depending on the type of illness and proof of same from your veterinarian. We will not accept any financial responsibility (including veterinarian bills) for the animal you have already adopted.

Please remember to bring the monies for the adoption fee with you when you come to pick up your new companion & a leash. In order to allow you to take home your dog that day we request that these funds be cash only. This way we don't potentially get stuck with returned checks & returned check fees.
