Shelter FAQs

Animal Control Staff Currently, we have only two county employees who work within the Department of Animal Control. Both are highly qualified and caring individuals.
We are a small rural, county shelter in Oceana County, MI. We serve Oceana County. We cover an area of 524 square miles and a population of about 28,000. We have room for 15 dogs and 7 cats. We do take volunteers, so, please come on in and take one of our pets for a walk around our property today.

Additional adoption info

DOGS/puppies: $95.00 if not spayed/neutered when they arrive at the shelter.
In return for your adoption fee you will receive: $60.00 worth of certificates. $50.00 toward the cost of the spay or neuter of the adopted animal ($50.00 from Oceana County which is required by Michigan State law.) and $10.00 towards the rabies vaccine.

The adoption fee for dogs that are already fixed when they arrive at the shelter is $50.00 and includes a certificate for $10.00 towards a rabies vaccine.

CATS/kittens: $35.00 if not spayed/neutered. In return for your adoption fee you will receive certificates paying for the spay/neuter, and $10.00 towards the rabies vaccine.

The adoption fee for a cat or kitten that is already fixed is $10.00 which comes with a $10.00 certificate towards the rabies vaccine.

The law requires that all dogs and cats adopted from a shelter be spayed or neutered.
