Shelter FAQs
The Bulverde Area Humane Society is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Founded in 1983 by Dolores Caldwell, BAHS is a no-kill shelter caring for up to 400 dogs and cats annually. The shelter resides on 3.25 acres of park-like land and houses indoor/outdoor kennels, a cattery, nursery/medical recovery building, agility fields, and fenced-in play yards.
BAHS is powered by volunteers and overseen by a Board of Directors. Our volunteers ensure the dogs and cats get plenty of exercise, playtime, and unlimited cuddles, love, and affection.

Adoption steps
- Visit the Facility and Find a Pet
- Due to Covid, we require an appointment to visit our pets. Please email the shelter (bahshelter@yahoo.com) to schedule an appointment.
- Submit Application
- Once you have chosen a pet, you will submit an adoption application and pay the fee. Dogs- $150 Cats- $85
- Take the Pet Home
- Shower your new family member with love and affection!
