Life Long Tails's adoption process

Additional adoption info

Adopting every friend is different! All animals require an adoption application, contract, and fee, plus a vet reference and home check! With some dogs we have an overwhelming response, the dog will go to the first approved home, we will try and locate a perfect dog for you if you are not approved for the first dog you pick! Remember our main goal is to save lives and educate people on proper pet care, we are here for the animals we adopt out for LIFE!!! Adoption fee's are usually around $250 which includes all shots, spay or neuter, wormed, and started on flea and heartworm medicine and micro chip. We also assist in finding you the perfect rescued dog. What better way to gain a companion then to save a life??? We do transports from many high kill shelters out west where you can pick the dog you would like to adopt and we will help arrange transport for your new friend!! Please feel free to contact us with any questions we are here to help!!! email at Lifelongtails@hotmail.com

About Life Long Tails

We are here to help locally with people and there pets. We offer training tips and advice to try and keep the animal in there home. If there is no way the animal can stay we will try and screen homes and assist the family in placing the animal remotely. We will assist in transportation in getting dogs spayed and neutered and setting up appointments for you. We have presentations on proper care and control of dogs and proper ownership and have done them in the past for Girl Scout troops or private groups. We are FULLY INCORPORATED!!!! We have our non for profit status and are just working on our 501C3. This means all time spent and all donations are tax exempt!

We are a small rescue near Binghamton NY. All animals are fostered and in families not kennels. This gives all animals an opportunity to live how they will when they get adopted so we can start all training and socialization. All foster families have 1 or 2 dogs at most so they can focus and train these pups like they were their own!!! If interested we will arrange for you to meet the dog after an application has been filled out. We work with many shelters as well as owner turn ins. We also do ferrets as well as some reptiles! Please remember that the rescue is run by people who have full time jobs and families. We try to respond to emails as quick as possible but please have patience! Some of these animals come from out of state and across country, it is a long difficult process to get them out here so please bear with us in saving these young and old lives!! (all dogs must be 6 months or older to have the hw test or be spayed or neutered, all dogs under the age of 6 months are started on preventative for heartworms)

Life Long Tails's adopted pets

Adopt a Pet is the easiest way for you to search for a new pet in North Colesville, NY.

Support adoption and rescue. Why go to a dog breeder, cat breeder or pet store to buy a dog or buy a cat when you can adopt?

Why should you adopt?

Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you'll have a friend for life.

What is the difference between adopting a dog, adopting a cat, adopting a kitten or adopting a puppy versus getting dogs for sale, cats for sale, puppies for sale or kittens for sale from a dog breeder or a cat breeder?

When someone is breeding puppies or breeding kittens, they are creating new dogs and cats who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog, cat, puppy or kitten and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale or buy a cat for sale from a puppy breeder or a kitten breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs and cats who must find homes.

So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder or buying a cat or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog, adopt a cat, adopt a puppy or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.
