Shelter FAQs

For information on domesticated animals that may be available for adoption please call: 254-933-6780 for more information. The management of stray, sick and dangerous animals in Bell County is both necessary and important to the general health and safety of the citizens of Bell County. The Bell County Animal Shelter exists to promote this general welfare and to manage unwanted and unhealthy animals. Our first goal is to remove problematic animals and then to find suitable homes for as many animals as possible. Realistically, not all animals can be or are suitable for adoption. Therefore, the Bell County Animal Shelter is a limited kill facility. Those animals which are unable to be adopted will be euthanized in a respectful and humane manner. The Bell County Animal Shelter is a joint effort between the City of Belton and the County of Bell.
We serve all of Bell County as far as housing it's strays and adopting them out.
