Shelter FAQs

The Rogue Valley Humane Society is dedicated to providing compassionate shelter and care to stray, unwanted and abandoned cats and dogs in Josephine County. Founded as a non-profit organization with the belief that every animal is worthy of respect and protection, RVHS is committed to placing animals in lifetime homes, teaching responsible pet guardianship. We also TNR at our Spay / Neuter clinic in addition to maintaining community spay-neuter programs to help end pet overpopulation.
The Rogue Valley Humane Society serves Josephine county with a population of 82,000 in southern Oregon. Located in the city of Grants Pass, the shelter can accommodate 18 dogs (plus litters of puppies) and 90 cats. RVHS is dedicated to improving the lives of companion animals in our community and finding permanent and loving homes for the cats and dogs in our care. We provide a safe haven for animals in transition, serve as advocates for animals and their people, work to end animal overpopulation and educate the public about compassion and responsibility towards all animals. Our shelter is a No-Kill facility where all incoming animals are evaluated, medically treated and rehabilitated when needed. RVHS is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that does not receive any government funding and relies on the good will and generosity of individuals and corporations.
