Have a Heart Animal Rescue and Adoption is headquartered in Birmingham, Alabama. We are primarily a Cat and Kitten rescue with limited foster homes. We are also a virtual rescue kennel site for posting rescued animals for adoption.
We are a registered 501c3 non-profit organization.

Have a Heart is not a shelter. We are a cat/kitten rescue and a virtual rescue adoption site for posting rescued animals with limited foster homes. When our foster homes are full, we can help by posting animals to our website and by sending out e-mails to attempt help find homes for them. We have a limited number of foster homes.

Our adoption fee is $100. It covers combo test (mother combo tested if litter of kittens), deworming, ear mite treatment, first FVRCP shots and spay/neuter certificate. We require proof of additional vaccinations, including rabies and we require proof of spay/neuter. You sign a contract and purchase certificate in advance.
Dogs/Puppies vary from $150 to $300. depending on the vet care provided.

What is the difference between adopting a dog, adopting a cat, adopting a kitten or adopting a puppy versus getting dogs for sale, cats for sale, puppies for sale or kittens for sale from a dog breeder or a cat breeder?
When someone is breeding puppies or breeding kittens, they are creating new dogs and cats who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog, cat, puppy or kitten and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale or buy a cat for sale from a puppy breeder or a kitten breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs and cats who must find homes.
So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder or buying a cat or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog, adopt a cat, adopt a puppy or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.
