Rescue FAQs

NFFAR's primary mission is to reduce the animal population explosion in an ethical and humane manner. We assist the public with low-cost spay/neuter, TNR for feral cats, and place adoptable pets in permanent loving homes. We also assist people who are in extreme financial situations and are in need of medical assistance for their pets. This is done on a case-by-case basis.
We are based in northern NJ but help people and animals across the country. We have a network of foster homes for our adoptable pets and also show our pets for adoption at Petco in Ramsey, NJ.

Additional adoption info

We have a tax-deductible adoption fee of $120.00 for cats. This includes micro-chipping. Our dog adoption fee is: $150.00, which also includes micro-chipping. We offer low-cost spay/neuter if the adoptable pet is not spayed or neutered at time of adoption. All pets are spayed/neutered prior to adoption unless they are too young or there is a special medical circumstance. We do a mandatory follow up on all un-spayed/un-neutered pets. We ask for 3 references that are not household members and one designee, to be in place in case the adopting family cannot care for the pet. We ask for a vet reference and do a home visit with every adoption.
