The Paws To Care Project

The Paws To Care Project is a new rescue organization that was just founded this year. Our rescue is located in Connecticut, but we pull our cats and dogs from high-kill shelters in North Carolina. We originally founded our rescue because when we heard about the use of gas chambers North Carolina's animal shelters we knew we had to do something. Not only are many shelters using gas chambers to euthanize their animals--there are so many homeless pets that many shelters only give a dog or cat a few days to be adopted before putting it down. We networked and connected with a few volunteers down in North Carolina who have a rescue of their own called Nash County Animal Friends. They pull the dogs and cats for us, foster them temporarily while they are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, etc., and then get them on the transport that takes them to our rescue in New England and one step closer to their forever family.
We are still a small rescue, but we hope to expand and save more and more as the year progresses. We believe that all dogs and cats have the right to be loved and treated kindly; it's such a simple thing yet it's all they really ask for. We will save as many as we possibly can while pushing to stop the problem at its source; urging all pet owners nationwide to spay and neuter and always adopt instead of using a pet store or a breeder. More than anything, we are working toward the day when there aren't any more that need to be rescued.

Rescue FAQs

The Paws To Care Project adopts to families located in New England and New York, but the family must be willing to come to Connecticut to sign the adoption contract and pick up their pet.

Additional adoption info

If you are interested in one of our cats or dogs, e-mail us at thepawstocareproject@hotmail.com and we will send you an adoption application. We review all adoption applications within 48 hours of receiving them. If your application is accepted we will be in touch to arrange the adoption date. There is an adoption fee that covers what was spent to spay/neuter, vaccinate, de-worm, microchip and transport your pet. This fee can be paid at the time the actual adoption takes place, or it can be paid ahead of time via the donate button on our Facebook web page. 100% of the adoption fee is used to rescue another dog or cat from a high-kill shelter!
