About Lovemyparrots

In (about) 2000, I joined an existing bird club and met a friend by the name of Michelle Fitzgerald (now owner of Avian Education & Therapy Co-op). She has taught me many things about owning & caring for exotic birds. Thanks Michelle!

It all started when I took in a pair of lovebirds.
That’s when my journey began. It began with 2 lovebirds, then a cockatiel,
then 2 cockatiels & so on.

Then I was asked to take in a orange winged Amazon and a gold collar macaw that were in real bad condition. They were thin, hungry and very plucked. Their names are Felix & Buddy. It was then I knew it was my calling to help. If Felix and Buddy looked like this, there had to be more out there that needed help. And so began my avian rescue. Now I take in parrots, rehabilitate them and re-home the ones that are healthy enough for the move. We do have a screening process, as we require that the birds go to a caring, responsible owner who will commit themselves to the care that it takes to raise & own the bird properly.

I live in Central Square, which is in upstate central NY, in a small but comfy ranch on 16 acres. We have a home based vinyl lettering and graphics business so a lot of time is spent with our birds.

Support adoption and rescue. Why go to a dog breeder, cat breeder or pet store to buy a dog or buy a cat when you can adopt?

Why should you adopt?

Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you'll have a friend for life.

What is the difference between adopting a dog, adopting a cat, adopting a kitten or adopting a puppy versus getting dogs for sale, cats for sale, puppies for sale or kittens for sale from a dog breeder or a cat breeder?

When someone is breeding puppies or breeding kittens, they are creating new dogs and cats who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog, cat, puppy or kitten and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale or buy a cat for sale from a puppy breeder or a kitten breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs and cats who must find homes.

So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder or buying a cat or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog, adopt a cat, adopt a puppy or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.
