Shelter FAQs

We are a small shelter that rescues pets from local impounds whose time is up, and would otherwise be euthanized. We only have 9 dog kennels and 26 cat kennels; as many of 80% of the animals in our care are located in foster homes throughout the community at any time. We are very limited on space within our shelter and often, we can't take in owner surrenders, but will do our best to help give guidance about rehoming pets.

We offer several services besides adoption, including microchip clinics and pet-friendly rental housing listings.

We are the only shelter in the FM area that rescues both cats and dogs, so without our help, hundreds of dogs and cats would be euthanized each year in local pounds.
The entire FM area, including Fargo and West Fargo, ND and Moorhead, MN, as well as all of Cass County, ND and Clay County, MN.

Adoption steps

  1. Submit Application
    1. If you'd like to meet the pet before submitting an application, please stop by during our open house hours.
  2. Meet the Pet
    1. Pets in foster care can only be met after submitting an approved application; pets at the shelter can be met during open house hours.
  3. Approve Application
    1. We will have a discussion with you, and after ensuring the pet is a good fit for your home, you will be approved.
  4. Sign Adoption Contract
    1. Once you've met the pet and have decided you want to adopt, you will sign an adoption contract.
  5. Pay Fee
    1. You will pay the adoption fee at the time you sign the adoption contract; we do not have application fees when applying.
  6. Take the Pet Home
    1. Yay! It's done and you are able to take your new pet home!

Additional adoption info
