Casa de Perro Animal Rescue

We rescue the animals that are at risk of being killed in local shelters. In our rescue program, we focus on the pets that have been passed over by other rescue groups that only take the “healthy and treatable pets” and “time”. Leaving their only remaining option at the shelter to be killed. Or to put it in politically correct terms…..EUTHANIZED. The number of pets we can save is dependent on donations we receive, the adoption of those already rescued and the number of foster families available to board and care for to care for those we save.

Additional adoption info

For those interested in adopting for us here is our process: the adoption application is completed & sent to us for review. We will google the address…this is just to check for things like a busy street – if the dog happens to be a runner, that might not be an appropriate home. How close they are to schools and parks – since there are so many bully restrictions. If dog is a pit or bully breed, we will call references if they have never owned a bully breed before.
We will then call & schedule a home visit. For the home visit we ask the family to keep the dog a minimum of 2 days/nights. This is simply because at first visit the dog may be hyper or timid and not showing their true personality. We also ask that the whole family that will be interacting with the dog on a regular basis be home for this visit, if possible. At drop off we will introduce the dog to any animals currently at the home and make sure there are no aggression issues. If all goes well then we leave the dog, kennel, food for stay, bowl, bedding and leash. The family can “try” the dog for as long as they feel necessary. We’ve had families keep them weeks before making a decision.
Follow up calls will be made the following day and several days after just to touch base. If decision is made that this is their dog, then they complete the adoption contract, microchip registration form and make a tax deductible donation of agreed upon fee for the adoption of the dog. The adoption fee covers: all foster costs, food, spay/neuter, microchip, worming medication, flea/tick treatments, H/W test, H/W treatment if they test positive, H/W preventative, grooming fees + any other medical necessity while in the dog is in our care.
