Our shelter is operated by the Douglas County Board of Commissioners (BOC). We strive to educate our county citizens by providing information about low-cost spay/neuter options and general information about responsible pet ownership. Douglas County Animal Services is located in Douglasville, Georgia, all adoptions must take place in person. We impound stray animals at large in Douglas County. Unfortunately information on an animals behavior or temperament is not known. Breeds listed are an estimation and are not guaranteed. We do operate as a first come, first served policy.
We are located in Douglasville, approximately 25 minutes west of Atlanta on Interstate 20.

All pets receive core vaccines, deworming, flea treatment, and a lifelong registered microchip.

Meet-and-Greet Opportunities:
Dogs: outdoor courtyard or indoor meet-and-greet room. We recommend bringing your current pets and children to help ensure the best match.
Cats: private, calm interview room

Community & Support:
We offer guidance and resources to support your adoption experience long after you leave the shelter.

Affordability:
Thanks to sponsorships and grants, we offer fee reductions and specials. Don’t let cost be a barrier — many of our long-stay animals are fully sponsored.
