Shelter FAQs

The Fort Irwin Stray Facility is located inside the Fort Irwin Veterinary Treatment Facility. Fort Irwin is located about 30 miles from Barstow, CA. We welcome people who live off-post to come and adopt an animal off post, you just need to call first to get a pass since Fort Irwin is a military installation. Certain breeds are not allowed on post (i.e. pit bulls, chow chows, doberman pinchers, etc.) and *must* be adopted off post. Please consider helping these animals! Thank you so much!

Additional adoption info

Adoption fee is $90 for dogs and $60 for cats and includes all necessary vaccinations, spay/neuter, and micro-chipping.
