Areas Independant Rescuers of Price County serves

Many dogs come to us from around the Memphis, TN area and get transported up to Northern WI. On transport day we can meet adopters along the route to pick up your new family addition. We also have fosters in WI, MN, and Upper MI. We are always looking for more fosters!

Additional adoption info

We require an adoption application, which requires a veterinary check. Depending on the specific dog home visit might be required. Fees differ slightly depending on the dog.
Many dogs listed are cross posted from high kill shelters in the south. We do pre-adoptions to try to assist these shelters. Most are not yet in Wisconsin, so they are not available to just come visit them. We can assist more by having approved homes for them before they come up on transport.

How the pre-adoption process works for puppies pulled from kill shelters in the south:
-If you see one on petfinder that you are interested in adopting, email us at rescuepaws@yahoo.com for an adoption application.
-Return completed application.
-We look over your application. If you are approved you make a $50 deposit to us through Paypal. Your deposit reserves that puppy for you.
-We work to arrange transport that brings the puppies from the south up to Wisconsin. We will email you to let you know what day transport will be. We will set times to meet adopters along our route back up to Northern Wisconsin. The towns we can meet adopters in are Rockford, Madison, Portage, Stevens Point, Wausau, Tomahawk, Prentice, Phillips, and Park Falls.
-When we meet you at a designated area you will pay the remainder of the adoption fee and will take home your puppy along with any paperwork he/she comes with.

We do pull adult dogs as well. However we don’t generally pre-adopt the adults. We prefer people to come and meet them after they are up in Northern Wisconsin before deciding if the dog is right for you.

Call Bob at 906.285.0819, or email us at rescuepaws@ymail.com for information or to recieve an adoption application.

Adopt a Pet is the easiest way for you to search for a new pet in Phillips, WI.

Support adoption and rescue. Why go to a dog breeder, cat breeder or pet store to buy a dog or buy a cat when you can adopt?

Why should you adopt?

Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you'll have a friend for life.

What is the difference between adopting a dog, adopting a cat, adopting a kitten or adopting a puppy versus getting dogs for sale, cats for sale, puppies for sale or kittens for sale from a dog breeder or a cat breeder?

When someone is breeding puppies or breeding kittens, they are creating new dogs and cats who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog, cat, puppy or kitten and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale or buy a cat for sale from a puppy breeder or a kitten breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs and cats who must find homes.

So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder or buying a cat or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog, adopt a cat, adopt a puppy or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.
