Oak Ridge Animal Shelter's Adoption Process

1. Visit the Facility and Find a Pet

Potential adopters are asked to come in and meet the animal they would like to adopt.

2. Submit Application

Once the adopter has found an animal they want to adopt, they fill out an adoption application.

3. Approve Application

Staff will verify the information on the application is correct and all current pets are up to date on vaccines and prevention.

4. Sign Adoption Contract

The potential adopter will be called when their application is approved. Current animals will need to come in for a meet and greet.

5. Take the Pet Home

After completing and clearing the meet and greet, adopters pay the adoption fee and take home their new pet.

The adoption fee is $110. This includes the spay/neuter, microchip, booster vaccines, rabies vaccine, a dose of dewormer, a dose of flea medication, and a nail trim. Dog over the age of 6 months will be tested for heartworms, cats will be tested for FeLV/FIV.

Those who rent will need to pay their pet deposit fee and obtain a copy of a permission letter from their landlord before the adoption can be completed.

Those under 12 weeks will have to return for a Rabies vaccine.
