Shelter FAQs

Since 1978 the Western Arizona Humane Society has been dedicated to the rescue, care & placement of unwanted and homeless animals and the elimination of pet overpopulation. We are a private, non-profit, 501(c)3 organization. We do not receive funding from the state or any national organizations. Fundraisers and contributions from caring individuals allow us to continue our mission.

Additional adoption info

Our adoption fees vary depending on the type and age of the companion animal. Every adoption includes spay/neuter, up-to-date vaccinations, and a microchip. 🐾

Puppies (under 1 year): $203

Dogs (1 year and older): $158

Senior Dogs (7 years and older): $47

Kittens (under 1 year): $125

Cats (1 year and older): $90

Senior Cats (7 years and older): $25

✨ Pets for Vets Program
With a DD-214 or valid Military ID, adoption fees are waived for qualifying animals as part of our Pets for Vets program. ❤️🇺🇸

If you are interested in adopting a dog, and you have dogs at home, we must perform a "meet and greet" to see how the dogs interact before signing off on the adoption. All dogs and cats must be spayed/neutered and fully vaccinated before leaving the shelter.
