Rescue FAQs

Some of our residents have been starved or abused. Some had owners who just couldn't care for them. Roland and Settler's Pond Hooved Animal Shelter & Rescue is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization. The Pond was established in 1998 by Roland and Pinky Janota. The Janotas manage the facility on their family farm. Settlers is a no kill rescue for any type of animal in need. Roland and Pinky Janota have dedicated their lives to helping and rehabilitating any animal brought into their paths. In the best case scenario, the goal is to place each animal back in the wild, or into a safe home or zoo. In some cases adoption or placement is not possible. In those situations, these guests become permanent residents, until they are called to the big green pasture in the sky. Settlers Pond Shelter has a strict policy that no animal will be turned away. We work solely on donations, so please help us continue our work by making your best donation.
A quiet place in the country, dedicated to the welfare of animals and the education of the next generation. We are home to horses, goats, sheep, llamas, kangaroos, zebras, camels, squirrels, dogs, cats and more. We foster animals for zoos and wildlife shelters. We have an unending love for all animals and our goal is to be a help to them, no matter what problems they are facing.

Additional adoption info

All adoption requests must fill out our Adoption Application form available at http://www.settlerspondshelter.net
Settlers Pond management will interview, and may request more information, from any person requesting to adopt an animal. An inspection of the prospective home may be requested prior to placing an animal. Being accepted as an adoptive home is at the sole discretion of Settler's Pond management. No exotic animal will ever be placed in a private home or with a private party. Only domestic animals will be placed in private homes. Exotic animals will only be placed with established zoos or wild animal shelters and preserves. Settlers Pond is affiliated with the federal Wild Burro and Mustang adoption program. Contact Settlers for information on the next adoption scheduled for these beautiful animals.
