Rescue FAQs

Founded in 1990 to help with placement and care of unwanted and abused Persian and Himalayan cats.
San Francisco Bay Area. We do not ship cats. Adoptions must be made in person.

Additional adoption info

To Adopt a cat from our Rescue, call or email the person listed after the cat's description. We will then schedule a time for a phone interview, application review, and will check your references.

PLEASE PRINT A COPY OF OUR APPLICATION FORM, fill it out and e-mail it to info@persiancats.org. It may be found on our website.

Adoption Criteria

Prior experience caring for Persians/Himalayans is preferred but not required in all cases.
An adoption fee of $175
Veterinary references and two personal references
Indoor homes only
No declawing or tendonectomies (some cats are already declawed)
Proper grooming, food, water, attention and veterinary care
Notification if your cat becomes lost
A promise to return the cat to us if the placement does not work out
